| How
Long does it Take? |
|
| A
three minute MP3 file seems to take about 7 minutes to download
in the UK, using a 56KB modem connection. Bills Wyman's track is 3.5
minutes in length so it will probably take just over 7 minutes.
Including the setup, it should take about 15 minutes for you
to hear the first track. Once completed, subsequent tracks (to
be released in the same way) do not require the setup. If you
are using unencrypted files of course you don't need this setup. |

Linux implementation |
|
|
The mp3 player can be used in conjunction with Linux by
following the guidelines established by Andrew Richardson. This
requires the USB MMC Writer and has been tested using the 2.5
Kernel. Click

| MP3
Files? |
|
| MP3
is a way of compressing digital music and video so it takes
up far less space on a computer's hard disk. MP3 files can thus
be sent more quickly over the Internet. MP3 stands for Motion
Picture Experts Group layer 3. The Fraunhoffer Institute, who
owns the MP3 Patent, has now released MP3PRO with increased
fidelity and a compression ratio which has doubled |

Player FAQ |
|
|
1.
Our
player won't play variable bit rate files. To get this size
performance, create a .WAV file from the existing MP3 file then
use MP3Pro to create a new MP3 file.
2.
To create a .WAV file from an MP3 file, select the .MP3 file
with MP3Pro, then right click on the face of the player. Choose
Write decoded PCM file from the drop down menu.
3. Very occasionally, some MP3 songs won't play in the portable
player yet will play in the software amplifier. Songs then
placed on the MMC after this song won't play. By renaming the
song, it will probably rectify the situation. If not, remove
this song from the play list. It is probably corrupt.
4. The player plays music in the root directory
on the MMCs. Any MP3s in subdirectories must be moved to the
root directory to be played.
